There's nothing fancy about these little French appetizers, except how you'll feel nibbling them with a cold aperitif before dinner.
Tartines are essentially 2-bite open-faced sandwiches that you can top with pretty much anything. Isn't that the beauty of simple though? With a handful of ingredients you probably have on hand and in less than 20 minutes, you have a very grown-up and pretty appetizer for informal dinners, as part of a larger spread for a party, or to just enjoy at home with a glass of wine.
Once zucchini season is underway, I make this a lot. The recipe makes great use of 5-Minute Marinated Zucchini. You can use any summer squash - whatever is fresh and plentiful.
